Mediocre to Great……

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GREAT SALESPERSON & A MEDIOCRE ONE?

Seriously…..What is the difference between a great salesperson and a mediocre one?  This was the topic of a recent discussion I had with the regional sales manager of a successful real estate company.  The answer is simple.  It is not what company they work with, what kind education they have, or even how many hours they work.  The answer is how they think.

Your mind is so powerful, so you need to be extremely careful that you make it work for you, not against you!  Let me give you a quick example of how to use your mind to work for you.  When I worked in real estate sales, I focused on getting good, salable listings.  I knew exactly how many I needed to meet my income goal, and I would focus on that number.  If one listing sold, I would immediately focus on replacing that one with another one.  It became a game in my mind, and I would find myself constantly thinking …. “Are you my next listing?”  I would not stop until I filled that gap in my listing inventory.  Everything else became secondary.

Remember, whatever you think about expands.  So…what are you thinking about?  Do you believe that you are a great salesperson and that there are tons of people out there wanting to do business with you?  Or….are you thinking about the status of the market and the lack of good, qualified buyers and sellers?  Your mind will believe the “stories” you tell it, so be sure you are telling it what you want.

The bottom line is this: If you want to be a great salesperson and want your business to prosper, work on your mind!
